I can’t turn my back for even a second!

I just got back from a business trip out of state and out of the loop not having internet access during my trip.  And in the span of the few days I am gone all hell breaks loose!

First, I called in on my way home sounding all chipper from how well the trip went.  Then Mum says “Well, I guess you haven’t heard the news?”  “No,“ says I “ what news?”  “Fred quit.”

* HerrBGone digs jaw out from under Galileo’s clutch peddle *

Not that he dropped out of the race.  I’d heard rumors that he might before I left.  I was hoping they were just rumors being spread by the MSM to weaken a conservative they were afraid of.

Then when I get to my desk and check my email this morning I find that while I was out I missed an email alert from NRA-ILA.  The Democratic Socialist Party is seeking to enact even more Draconian gun control laws here in the DPR of mAss.  One of their proposals in particular, House No. 2293, is custom crafted to make it technically unfeasible to implement, thus resulting in a total ban on the sale of firearms in the DPR of mAss without actually banning them per se.  The full text of the alert is behind the cut.

NRA-ILA Alert dated 1/22/08.

Gun Control Package Scheduled for Hearing in Massachusetts!

Please Contact Members of the Committee Today and Voice Your Opposition!

The Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security abruptly announced it would hold a public hearing on a package of anti-gun bills pertaining to "Gun Trafficking and Gang Violence."  The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 23, at 1:00 PM in room A-1 in the State House. The following list of legislation is on the agenda as a part of this anti-gun package:

  • Senate, No. 1354, introduced by State Senator Jarrett T. Barrios (D-Middlesex, Suffolk, and Essex), is being touted as a measure to curtail illegal gun trafficking and “gun violence” among youth in the Commonwealth.  However, this proposal would also place further regulations on licensed firearms owners and dealers by prohibiting anyone from possessing more than 15 firearms, and prohibiting the sale of more than 15 firearms to a law abiding person in any 1 year.

  • Senate, No. 1383, sponsored by State Senator Cynthia S. Creem (D-First Middlesex and Norfolk), would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one handgun at a time, and would impose a 30-day waiting period between handgun purchases.

  • House, No. 2293, presented by State Representative Paul C. Casey (D-Thirty-first Middlesex), would require the ballistic “fingerprinting” of all firearms sold in Massachusetts. This bill would make it a requirement for manufacturers to include a shell casing to be marked with the make, model, caliber, serial number, weapon type and the date of which the casing was discharged.  The sale of firearms that do not include a shell casing would be prohibited.

State Representative David Paul Linsky (D-Fifth Middlesex) has introduced three anti-gun bills, HB 2340, HB 2342, and HB 2343.

  • House, No. 2340 would require federally licensed firearms dealers to deliver identifying projectiles and shell casings from firearms sold in the Commonwealth to the Criminal History Systems Board.

  • House, No. 2342 would regulate all aspects of the design, manufacture, firearm reliability, and sale of handguns in Massachusetts.

  • House, No. 2343 would further regulate the sale and licensing of assault weapons in the Commonwealth.

Please contact the members of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to oppose this package of bills and any other proposal that limits the rights of lawful gun owners.

They aren’t even waiting for the Hilderbeast to win in November.

Behind the second cut is my prediction for the next few years:

My prediction for the next few years:

1) As the recession that was intended to hit later in the year than it has worsens the fight for control of the Executive Branch turns particularly nasty with fingers pointing every which way as to who is at fault for precipitating this economic disaster.  Only in the blogosphere is the liberal MSM blamed for talking the nation into believing in the resession, thus precipitating it.  Their idea was to foster a recession timed for later in the year to discredit the current administrations handling of the economy, thus propelling like-minded liberals into control of the Executive Branch.

2) This spring, the Supreme Court of the United States rules that the Second Amendment does in fact codify into law the preexisting right of The People to keep and bear arms upholding the ruling of the lower court in the case now called The District of Columbia vs. Heller.

3) Claiming that it was Republican mismanagement that caused the recession the Hilderbeast, with her soon to be new best friend and running mate Ohbummer, take the Oval Office.

4) During the symbolic ‘First Hundred Days’ the new administration implements their cut and run policy brining the troops home from both Iraq and Afghanistan precipitating civil war in the region by creating a massive power vacuum.

5) Believing the Nation has no stomach for a fight, Islamic Terrorists pull off a stunt that makes 9-11 look like armature night at the karaoke bar.

6) Using the latest attack as an excuse to clamp down on everyone, the Democratic Socialists of America (Hilderbeast, et. al.) call for sweeping new regulations on the private ownership of weapons of any kind by the peasants.  (That would be us.)

7) Fearing they would run afoul of the newly strengthened Second Amendment if they pushed for the New and Improved assault weapons ban requested by the Executive Branch, Congress instead moves to amend the Constitution by either weakening or repealing the Second Amendment altogether.

8a) Law abiding gun owners submit to the new ban and turn in their weapons for destruction.  The Citizens Militia is extinguished and We the People become the subjects of the new aristocracy.  The American Experiment is over in all but name only and we become another England.

8b) RESET.  The Citizens of the United States, called to service in the militia, assisted by units of the Nations Military whose commanders follow their Oath to the letter and loyally stand to defend the Nation from all enemies both foreign and domestic, take back the Nation from the Socialists and put the Constitution back in its proper place as the Law of the Land.

I suspect far too many would follow the path of least resistance and implement 8a.  I sincerely hope I’m wrong.  We must make those who would usurp or circumvent the Constitution understand “From my cold dead hands” is not mere rhetoric or hyperbole.

1354

I live in a different commonwealth, but I'm very concerned by 1354, which I read a little differently than any blgger I've read the work of. I definitely read it to mean that it would be illegal to posess 15 distinct firearms in MA in the course of a year, even if no two are ever posessed or owned at the same time.

Re: 1354

I read 1354 much the same way.

But the one that caught my attention is the 'automatic date stamper' portion of the mAss micro-stamping bill, House No. 2293. It's not just putting the make, model and serial number of the gun on the shell when fired, but it also requires the gun to automatically stamp the date that particular shot was fired. Since that is technically unfeasible it amounts to there being no guns to buy, much less fifteen in a year.

These bills have nothing to do with fighting crime. They are custom tailored to turn law abiding gun owners into disqualified persons and to prevent there being any guns to own in the first place.

Seriously scary shit!

Re: 1354

2293... I'm looking at that right now (2293 (http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/house/185/ht02/ht02293.htm)) but this is looking more to me like ballistic identification by identifying and "fingerprinting" the extractor, ejector, ramp, throat, barrell, etc. markings on brass. I'm seeing a mandated date stamp, but that's on the sample bag for a piece of brass. While expensive and it hasn't proven worthwhile, it doesn't look quite so scary as microstamping with full ID of the operator :)

options?

Uh, I don't live in the PRMA, but put me down for "8b" if you're looking for a tally.

Stay on top of the bastards!
